ImageIt's not often that a great summer swell coincides with a full moon. But when they collide, nature affords us a rare opportunity to paddle out long after everyone has called it a day. These moments are a solitary pursuit with empty lineups. But those who carve graceful lines under a full moon understand how things can be dark, lonely and rewarding at the same time. So next time you paddle in from an overcrowded beach break, remember that nothing tastes better than a cold beer after a session. Reportedly brewed from the second runnings of Lost Abbey Serpent's Stout (Lost Abbey and Port Brewing are the same brewery, both run by the same guy... Lost Abbey is just the Belgian-style brand).

ImageFrom the beginning of time, it was so decreed, "From this Tree of Knowledge, you shall not eat this fruit." This unique version of our monstrous Yeti Imperial Stout is aged for 9 months in Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey barrels and then bottle conditioned. This spirited aging process produces a hugely complex but mellowed Yeti, with its signature roasted flavors, hints of vanilla and oak, and a whiskeyed finish. Who says you can't tame a beast?

The process tempers Old Ruffian's edges for a mellowed version with heady whiskey flavors and subtle oak notes. Bottle conditioned, it'll age nicely for years. If you can resist it that long.

ImageAnd it appears Michelob is ready to attempt a foray into the craft beer market with a collection of craft-style beers:

Bavarian Style Wheat - 5.2% abv
Bohemian Pilsner - 5.5%abv
Brown Ale - 5.6% abv
Pale Ale - Unknown, but I'm guessing about 5.5% abv
Porter - 5.9% abv
Red Ale - 6.1% abv

All appear to only be draft so far... Curious to hear how they are.
