NO! haha sorry but yeah DO NOT buy mr. beer.
Get one of these: http://www.beer-wine.com/product_info.asp?productID=751&sectionID=1
You need that and a 5 gallon pot which many people already have and if not just go to target, walmart whatever and get one. These kits will brew REAL beer and it'll taste amazing. Mr. Beer brews gross fermented sugar water.

I don’t wish to be the devils advocate or argumentative, but even though Mr. Beer is not considered by the diehards as a real Home Microbrew Kit, if that is all the room you have for…then it’s a good buy. The beer is good, most likely will never reach the heights of a true all grain or malt home microbrewer that does it all. The microbrew club that I belong to is an all grain club, yet they did let me join. I think I may be the only member that uses Mr. Beer. Some of the beers that I make are very good, clean and smooth. I live in a Condo, and some people live in Apartments and just don’t have the space for Carboys and make an all grain or malt beer from scratch. The Mr. Beer can be a great way to start out. It is not for everyone. I’m sure there are many the look down at Mr. Beer as if they are not worthy of the Home Microbrew. These are just my opinions for what they are worth.
I bring my beers every month to the meetings and let them judge my beers. They range from 3 years of experience up to 25 to 30 years, and have been impressed with my results. No bad remarks, and if it was bad I would hear it.
Brew on

I live in an apartment as well. The room one bucket and a 5 gallon pot takes up is pretty miniscule. You can make decent beer on the Mr. Beer system. You can even make pretty good to excellent beer, so long as you don't use their malt syrups and yeast. You don't have to brew all grain to go better than Mr. Beer. A malt extract set up will be as much work as Mr. Beer, make more beer, better beer and at only slightly more start up cost.
I have no problem with people who don't want to brew all-grain. That's a pain in the ass and a lot of work. And it does take more space. But, for a little bit more than Mr. Beer, you can have a very good malt extract brewing set up. I did the Mr. Beer thing and the only thing I'd ever use again from the kit is the little plastic keg they give you to ferment in.
Actually, come to think of it, if you have the floor space for the plastic keg you have room for a fermenting bucket.

Welcome to the site Paul!
I'm glad you have good luck with it, I think i'd still have to suggest a basic kit and do a malt extract setup. I think one of the big things is the brew process, the recipes they give leave a lot to be desired i tried beer from their recipe and it was very wattery etc. So that sort of leaves it to just the equipment. If you can fit a 5 gallon bucket then I have to suggest the brew kit.
Good to hear you're getting great beer working in a small space though, cuz that's what's great about homebrewing
