Does anyone have a really good and proven Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen Clone that uses Mr. Beer? I知 looking at trying to make a clone as close to the on Biersch Hefeweizen beer. If you have ever had it, you値l know why I want to make a beer like theirs. If I cannot, I have no problem just buying their beer. The Octoberfest Vienna Lager does not even get close to it.

Brew on,

Paul

Hey Paul, to be honest I've done the Mr. Beer thing and any clone you try to make won't even be close. The problem is the quality of ingredients with those kits isn't very good and they get too much of the fermentables from just straight table sugar, which stresses the yeast. You can definitely make drinkable beer in them, but nothing to be super excited about. I've never have the Gordon Biersch, but we have a good recipe for an extract Hefeweizen. If you want to take the plunge, a decent extract brew system will cost you $60 or so, then you can get going. We've made some really delicious stuff from extract!

Hey Jeff,

Who has the recipe for the hefe? It's not in our beer tools I think we just wrote it down. We should post that up here because that was a damn good beer and worth making again. Tasted insanely good, and not good for an extract, just plain good.

I don't... but it was probably 50/50 malt extract, wheat malt extract (or maybe 100% wheat malt extract that was preblended)... hallertauer hops... and Hefeweizen yeast from White Labs. About 5% abv
