I've heard different opinions on this, but how do you all stand on using Irish Moss (is that correct) to help clarificiation of your brew? Does it work, does it work well enough to justify using it? How much should I add and when?
Thanks!
Hey Man, welcome to DrinkCraftBeer.com!
Personally I never use Irish Moss... Clarification is just kind of an appearance thing I've never worried about. Also, I've never really had trouble with clear beer. If you use a secondary fermentation and are careful when you transfer, then chill the bottles, you'll pour clear beer. The only times now that my beers are hazy is if I don't secondary.
Plus, given the price increases, especially of hops lately, I've been trying to keep my brewing costs down as much as possible. This is just one less thing to buy, haha.
