Hey guys, I haven't been on these forums in awhile. Ive still been just as in love with craft beer though haha.

Anyway, I was just wondering your opinion on these kits. Should I just buy what i need separately? what are the pros/cons? anyone have experience with them?

also has anyone gotten the Rogue dead guy ale recipe kit? i love that brew

It depends what kits you're referencing, but some can be quite decent. That's how Devon and I got our start in homebrewing. If you're just starting out, I'd say get a kit because everything will come packaged together and you can learn the processes of homebrewing. The only thing is pick up a fresh vial of white labs yeast or a packet of good dry yeast (Wyeast) or a smack pack. This will make all the difference in your brew as fresh and healthy yeast is super-key!

Always nice to start with a kit because it comes with the basics and you learn a ton putting it all together. Definitely shoot for a home beer brewing kit!~
