NERAX 2008 in Somerville - Cask Beer Fest 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 3
Here's the info: http://www.nerax.org/nerax/

Session Times and Festival Admission Prices
Wednesday 6:00 - 10:30 p.m. $10
Thursday 6:00 - 10:30 p.m. $15
Friday 6:00 - 10:30 p.m. $15 *ADVANCED TICKETS SOLD OUT* DOOR TIX WILL BE AVAILABLE
Saturday 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. $5

Devon and I will be at the Thursday night session, already bought tickets. I'm really psyched about this!

The beer list isn't up yet: http://www.nerax.org/nerax/beers.html

But, they seem to intimate that Mayflower will be at NERAX. The way the format is, you never know what's going to be tapped when, but I hope we're there for Mayflower cask!

This is a great fest, by the way all. I can't recommend it highly enough. A lot of English stuff comes over that you'll never get to try again... or at least not until next year's NERAX. Plus, cask ale rocks! 1/2 British ales and 1/2 New England ales. Aaaaawwwww yeah!

Should be there.......missed last years and went to CBC instead but I can't pass up on so many cask offerings in one place.

Yeah, I missed last year's as well and was sad. I def recommend getting tickets ahead of time as the line is often real long to buy tix at the fest.

Just a quick correction. The limited number of advanced sale tickets for the Friday session are sold out. Admission to all sessions will be available at the door. Also, if you wish to help at the festival, we are still looking for volunteers. For further information about the festival, please go to

A preliminary beer list is now available, either at the above link, or by going to http://www.nerax.org/nerax/cgi-bin/american.asp or http://www.nerax.org/nerax/british.asp, depending on whether you are more interested in the American or the British casks. Note that it is subject to change. We're still looking to add another few casks. And you're right about the Mayflower. I was definitely intimating that Matt would be sending a beer (the Pale Ale to be precise), but I didn't feel comfortable at the time to directly state it.

Hope to see you all at the festival,

Mark

That's awesome, thanks for the info, Mark! And I corrected the info about only presale tickets being sold out. I'm really looking forward to this year's NERAX!

By the way, I just checked out the list... some highlight:

Allagash (Portland, ME) - Black
Allagash Black, our new Belgian style stout, is brewed with German 2 row barley, Torrified wheat and oats, balanced by a large addition of Belgian dark candi to give the Black a full and silky mouthfeel. Roasted malts give this stout its classic chocolate, toast and malty taste, and contribute to chocolate notes and a hint of roasted coffee in the aroma. The Black is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain.
ABV: 7.5 OG: 1072 IBU: n/a

AWESOME!

Clipper City Brewing Co. (Baltimore, MD) - Red Sky at Night Saison Ale
Brewed in the style of Belgian farmhouse ales, using a unique Belgian yeast and authentic Belgian candi sugar. A spicy ale with deep complexity.
ABV: 7.5 OG: 1080 IBU: n/a

Really?!?! Saison on cask?! Crazy Americans! Could be GREAT though!

Gardner Ale House (Gardner, MA) - Naked Stout
This crisp, dry, Irish-style stout is full of roasty flavor, yet low in alcohol, with a nice medium bitterness. It pours with a tan to brown head, and is surprisingly full in the mouth for a lower ABV stout.
ABV: 3.8 OG: 1041 IBU: 36
YES!

Pennichuck Brewing (Milford, NH) - Halligan Rye PA
Golden Amber India Pale Ale with a balanced peach, grapefruit and slightly malty sweet aroma. Flavors of Noble Hops and Malted Rye with notes of Citrus and Pine.
ABV: 5 OG: 1050 IBU: 41

And again, YES!

Smuttynose Brewing Co. (Portsmouth, NH) - IPA
An American IPA that exhibits a strong bitterness which is mellowed but nice hop flavor. The malt profile complements the hop profile but does not seek to balance it out.
ABV: 6.6 OG: 1060 IBU: 65

YES!!!

Wachusett Brewing (Westminster, MA) - Green Monsta Ale
Flavorful English style ale with an awesome balance of Belgian specialty malts, Fuggles and East Kent Golding hops
ABV: 6.4 OG: 1064 IBU: 60

YES!!!

Wachusett Brewing (Westminster, MA) - RYDE Beer
Why Rye? Exceptional Drinkability. Ale with 10% flaked rye for unique flavor and dryness in the finish. Dry hopped with Tettnang hops in the conditioning tank
ABV: 5 OG: 1050 IBU: 24

YES YES YES!!!

Willimantic Brewing Co. (Willimantic, CT) - Postage Porter
A dark porter brewed with seven malts portraying a chocolate and spicy finish from Perle hops
ABV: 5.6 OG: 1058 IBU: 25

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember them?! http://drinkcraftbeer.com/editorial/articles/thomas_hooker_brewery_tour.html

With that many things I'm crazy excited about, at least some of it should be on tap on Thursday night. I'm so excited!
