For those, like myself, in search of something more interesting than the mediocre "pale wheat ales" offered up by numerous breweries as their summer seasonal, I would heartily recommend you seek out a Lagunitas Sirius. Perhaps it's not so much their summer seasonal as a spring/summer limited release, if you prefer, but it is a fine warm weather beer. A medium-light bodied ale with significant carbonation to keep the sticky, glass-lacing, frothy head alive for quite some time, the aroma leans strongly toward orange blossoms and light pine. Flavors are not overly complex, but there is a wonderfully juicy malt character with hints of caramel and nicely balancing hop bitterness in the form of grapefruit, pine pitch, and a slight herbal character. It finishes quick, with a mild lingering hop presence; effervescent and wonderfully thirst-quenching. Pairs nicely with dishes that make use of fresh basil. Watch out though, you wouldn't know it's up around 7% ABV by taste alone.
