Southern Tier Choklat Stout...Amazing 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago

Holy Crap...that's the short version of my review and I mean that in the best way possible.
This beer is just epic. The initial pour is unassuming, it's not so viscous that you'd think you have a beast of a stout on your hands, but then the first whiff...just pure rich chocolate tones. I feel like I could just sit and smell this beer. The first sip is rich and oh so smooth, it's almost like cake batter but somehow in a good way, it's very rich but doesn't feel thick which is good. There's a nice balance of carbonation that helps make what could be a very heavy beer go down easy. What's even better is that the more I drank it the more I liked it, I sipped gingerly not because I had to, but because I dreaded that inevitable moment when my glass would be empty.
I split a bottle three ways with 2 friends last night and both loved it. This is by far the best chocolate stout I've had, and one of the best stouts of any kind I've had. A must purchase item for any fan of stouts.

This one takes no warming, it's about 10 times as good as the rogue, it should be served warmish, but it tastes good at a good range of temps

Devon is SPOT on here. I had one of these a couple weeks ago and it is one of my favorite stouts period, let alone Chocolate stouts.
On a side note, I also goT to try the Southern Tier Gemini along with it, which is a 50/50 combinatin of their Hoppe & Unearthly. Whew. I'll do a separate write-up on that. They are becoming one of my top breweries. Their Phin & Matt's and standard IPA are two of my favorite session brews. The rest have been pretty spot on as well.

My only complaint is it's a bit much on the taste... I settled in to drink it one day... over the course of a movie... and had trouble... big trouble. It's great for a glass. But, 2 glasses of it is a bit on the heavy side for me. And there's nothing I like more than a bomber of imperial stout. This is definitely a splitting with a friend beer. Not a bad thing at all, it's just a heavy and intense beer.

I had the gemini on tap and loved it, I bought a bottle and when I crack it I'll do a more thorough writeup. But it rocks.

I had the Gemini in the bottle and didn't like it as much as the tap version of yours I tried. It seemed a lot harder to drink without the great hop taste the tap had... at the same time I also had quite the head-cold, so maybe that effected it (you think?). So, long story short, I guess I'll have to retry it. It's a beast of a beer at 10.5% abv though!

Had this last weekend myself. Wrote a review of the beer: Southern Tier’s Imperial Choklat Stout And pretty much hits on the same things Devon did. Have people tried the Ommegang Chocolate Stout? I have (didn't write a review of it though), and it too was quite good.

I didn't like the Ommegang nearly as much. It tasted powdery to me... you could really tell it used cocoa powder I thought. I liked the Southern Tier a lot better as it was more viscous and smooth.

Had the Choklat on tap last week, liked it better than the Brooklyn, Ommegang, Young's. etc.
