For all of you who have inquired, here's our tentative 2008 Big Beer Series lineup, with estimated release dates. Please note that these are the dates we expect to ship to our wholesalers. The beers will take somewhat longer to reach the shelves of your favorite store.
Baltic Porter - mid-January (New Release!)
Imperial Stout - mid-February
Maibock - early April
Big A IPA - early May
Farmhouse Ale - early June
Wheat Wine mid-August
Barley Wine - early October
S'muttonator Double Bock - mid-November
Belgian Quad - mid-December (New Release!)
Ummm... so, yeah. I'm fairly stoked about this coming year! I can't wait for the new Baltic Porter. Their Imperial Stout is one of the best in the country. Big A is a freaking stellar dIPA. Farmhouse rocks! The Barleywine is very good (I have one in my fridge to try soon)... the Double Bock is out of this world. And I can't wait to try a quad by Smutty nose!

I was just glancing over this last night actually. I can't wait to try the Baltic Porter or Quad. I've also never had the Wheat Wine before so looking forward to sampling that. All of the rest are freakin steller beers!

Honestly, the Wheat Wine is the one I can do without. But, I also know a lot of people who think it's out of this world good! To me it's just overly sweet. But I definitely recommend trying it as, like I said, I know a lot of people who love it.
Their Imperial Stout I buy a ton of every year! haha.

Good to know. I'll probably like it then. I love a good cognac or port with my dessert, so I also can appreciate an over the top brew in similar fashion like a Raison D' Extra, where some would find that overly sweet.

Sounds like it will be right up your alley then! Try as I might, I can't get into port... my roommate loves it, though, so I've definitely tried it a few times.

Am I the only one not loving the Imperial Stout this year? It seems way, way too green. I'm sure it will settle down w/ some age, but I really like big beers that are actually drinkable fresh. A shame, too, 'cause I've bought this beer by the case for personal consumption in years past, and I don't see myself doing so this year.

It's quite hoppy this year. My roommate went so far as to call it a dark dIPA almost. I really liked it. Will I enjoy it more with a year on it to see if the hops mellow? Probably. But I think it's drinking great now... just not exactly true to style. I can see where it's a little off-putting though. It definitely wasn't what I expected either. Oh well, what can you do... Just have to wait for... Dah dah dah... the Big A! Yeah!

Sounds like I'd really enjoy this one. Reminds me of Troegs Dead Reckoning Porter. It received similar mixed reviews because it was the first 'hoppy' porter I've ever come across. I really liked it and thought it was quite complex.

hmm interesting, i haven't picked it up yet, but i'll have to post after I do. Should be picking some up tonight.

Yeah man, I definitely hear you on the overly hoppiness. If I'm fiending for an IRS I won't pick one of those up right now, but I look at it more like a Stone 11th or something. In a year or so it should be a great IRS, though... and Stone has their Imperial Stout coming out soon, so that should tide you over!
