what would u recommend im thinking ruination i wanted to try, dead guy ale is always a favorite, i also wanted to try the dogfish black and blu, anything else jump out at you that is a must try? or heard god things about?

So many on there that i wish we got here and I could try

ive had the dogfish 60s and 90s, the brown shugga is awful imo, and victory i 10 mins from me, ill look into the others tho, mainly the hop slam, xs i-squared and some of the other big bottles, btw i had the baltic thunder on tap at the brewery and it is excellent

Ruination is pretty hoppy... Mmmm... I wasn't a huge fan of black and blue, but give it a shot. Def some other good things on there to try for sure!

- Bell's Hopslam & Java Stout (and anything by Bell's... especially the stouts)
- Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter
- Flying Fish Espresso Porter
- Lagunitas Brown Shugga (a big brown ale... haven't had this season's but it's normally quite good)
- New Holland Cabin Fever Brown (just a drinkable brown ale)
- Rogue XS I2PA (It's very hoppy... gonna be expensive, but it's good... only get it if you feel like splurging... go with Hopslam first)
- Flying Dog Collaborator Doppelbock (going to be a little expensive, but it's good: http://drinkcraftbeer.com/editorial/articles/flying_dog_k-9_cruiser,_barrel_aged__horn_dog_and_collaborator.html)
- Great Divide Oak Aged Imperial Stout (amazing!)
- Hoppin' Frog B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Imperial Stout (in the review/pairing section here: http://drinkcraftbeer.com/editorial/articles/drink_craft_beer,_eat_craft_chocolate,_-_a_chocolate_and_beer_pairing_with_taza_chocolate_company.html)
- Rogue Shakespeare Stout (a great just regular thick stout)
- Sly Fox Odyssey (a double IPA from one of my favorite breweries)
- Souther Tier Gemini, Jah-Va (both are great... Gemini is hoppy dIPA, Jah-va is Coffee Imperial Stout)
- Victory V12 (a good belgian quad from Victory)

Yup, so I realize that's a long list. Just some suggestions. Those are all beers I highly recommend!

pick some up tomorrow, mostly the ales and ipas u suggested, im not big on stouts due to them being coffee based,and i hate coffee, and porters are ok but arent they basically the same as stouts, whats really the differences between porters and stouts?

ill try the slyfox, i have yet to go to they brewery near me but a trip is planned for the future

I'd write a list but it'd pretty much be almost the same as jeff's i def want to try the hopslam myself though prob won't get to. I had avery salvation a month or so back and it was quite tasty.

Just to clear up in case of any misunderstanding, most stouts don't have coffee in them actually. Some may have some flavors reminiscent of coffee, but the BORIS, the Great Divide and the Rogue don't have coffee.

The difference between a stout and a porter is the inclusion of roasted barley. Stouts evolved from porters, but are a little different. They are often less roasty and dryer than stouts. But there is some cross-over here and there. Stouts are often thicker than porters as well. That's the basic differences.
