Thought I would add to this with my favorite place to go for beer.
We have a small convienent store here on Fulton St, in Wavely, Ny called the Jolly Farmer,
This guy carrries damn near 100 different beers, mainly in micro-brews!
I thought he had alot just in his cooler section but about 2 months ago I walked in and he added an entire isle to the store strictly for 6-packs!
The best part is its only 2 blocks from my house and he's open late! I am pretty sure its heaven on earth.

Dude, that's pretty awesome! I live a 15 minute walk from the closest good beer shop in my neighborhood, and even farther for the real serious ones!

Oh, i almost forgot, to add to this heavenly place - they even do the Growlers as well, they usually have about 3 or 4 on tap!

I'm always jealous of you New Yorkers for that! In MA retailers can't do growlers. It's considered repackaging alcohol at the point of sale, which is very illegal here.

So I just got done talking to the owner last night while picking up a 6-pack'r two.(Smuttynose IPA & Wagners IPA) and I was a little off when I said about 100 types of beer...he said he currently has a little over 500 (Five Hundred) different beers! Its pretty impresive for as small of a town/store it is. Prices are awful salty though - For those two 6-packs, the bill came to 20.07! Ouch.

Sounds about right to me... at least for the Smutty. Production costs are going up. Grain is way up from a year or two ago (we're talking at least 66% increase if not 100%) hops are up 400% over a year or two ago. They actually had the change the IPA recipe recently because the hops they usually use aren't even available. We were living in a world of artificially cheap beer for a while there. The price increases we've been seeing are going to be more inline with real costs. It's still way cheaper to get some of the best beer in the world than some of the best wine or liquor.
