There was an article in today's Metro about "Church", which is replacing the old Linwood Grill. No mention of a beer list, so not holding out much hope. The article: http://www.metrobostonnews.com/us/article/2007/10/11/01/4947-66/index.xml
The place's website: http://www.churchofboston.com/

Nick Blakey, who you Boston folk might recognize as formerly of Bauer Wines on Newbury, is involved in this project. I heard from him today. Church opens tomorrow, Friday October 12. He didn't have a beer list for me, but gave me this info:

We have some DFH, Stone, and Lagunitas in bottles plus Smutty on tap.

Find upcoming shows here: www.myspace.com/churchboston

Plus, if plans are still the same as they were months ago, there may be a bunch of vintage bottles and stuff like that left from the Linwood days. I'll hopefully be speaking with Nick soon and will give an update when I know more.

Well that sounds a bit more promising. Interesting music and good beer, that would make a nice combo.

I wouldn't look for this place to offer the sort of quality beer selection once offered at the Linwood, though several distributors of quality beer are working on getting their products in there. Keep in mind that Nick is doing all of their music booking, and last I spoke with him he was trying not to get roped into the beer selection too much (in that he didn't want to end up doing two jobs for the price of one). I believe the ownership is picking his brain in regards to the beer selection, but ultimately someone else is in charge of the bar. Hopefully whatever influence he does have will be enough to keep the beer list interesting.

And yes, there are supposed to be some interesting vintage beers kicking around from the Linwood days... though I can't say when or if they'll be made available. That reminds me though, that I should get in touch with Nick, as we've still not met up for a beer since he left Bauer.
