He'Brew Monumental Jewbelation 10 Review
As it's the third night of Chanukah, we've moved from Shmaltz Brewing Company's first anniversary beer, Eight, to their third, Ten. Each anniversary, they add more hops, malts and alcohol corresponding with their birthday. So tonight's is 10% abv. With that in mind, let's get to it:
He'Brew Monumental Jewbelation 10
Appearance: Monumental Jewbelation looks monumentally opaque... that is until you hold it up to the light and get just the smallest inkling of a hint of blood red. We thought yesterday’s Jewbelation 9 5766 was dark as could be without being black, but this beer is darker brown still! A creamy brown head pops up to a few fingers thick on this one and slowly falls to a thin film in the middle with high ridges on the sides.
Smell: Yum! Brown sugar, malt and fresh yeasty bread are in the aroma. There might be some traces of hot cocoa smell here, too. Overall it just smells great, though!
Taste: This. Is. Delicious. It’s thick and creamy with low carbonation. There’s some chocolate in the taste up front and it kind of tastes and feels like chocolate milk made with really good dark chocolate. The finish dries out to an unsweetened chocolate with a little bit of a minerally finish. This beer weighs in at 10% alcohol by volume, which is super well hidden! The only trace of the alcohol is in the dry finish. This beer is great as it warms too, even the alcohol stays hidden!
This beer has been a joy to drink! This is a great one to celebrate the third night of Chanukah with. It’s definitely a big enough beer to split with family, so you can easily split this 12oz bottle with a family member or friend. On this third night of Chanukah, all we’ve got to say is... L’Chaim!
