Flying Dog Brewery Launches Beer Dinner Website For the Latest on Hot New Trend

Denver, CO – August 20, 2007 – With the increasing popularity of food and beer pairings, Flying Dog Brewery’s new resource website provides the latest information and ideas on the emerging craft beer trend.  BeerDinners.com is dedicated to educating craft beer connoisseurs on the “ins and outs” of custom meals prepared with the intention of accentuating each course with a particular style of beer, specifically chosen by the chef.

According to Flying Dog Director of Marketing Neal Stewart, “on BeerDinners.com you can learn exactly what a beer dinner is and how to find one at a restaurant.  We’re even offering complete menus prepared by a professional chef for those who want to get a little more adventurous and host their own Beer Dinner,” he said.

The website features menus prepared by Chef Scott Clagett of Boulder, Colorado.  “Spicy Dog” features eight courses, including chili-roasted shrimp with mashed sweet potatoes, watercress, mango, citrus and jalapeno served with Snake Dog IPA.  Another, titled “Off the Gonzo Grill,” is also an eight course meal capped off with an amazing Gonzo Imperial Porter ice cream float with chocolate covered cherries.

The site also encourages visitors to submit beer dinner ideas or review dinners they have enjoyed.  “We want to educate beer aficionados about the entire beer dinner concept, show people how pairing food with beer can really be a remarkable experience and help them be in-the-know on this hot new trend,” said Stewart.

New: Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale finally in bottles!
Uh Oh... Looks like Harpoon may have some competition for their upcoming 100 Barrel Release Wet Hop Ale... Sierra Nevada is always a good choice!

From the label:
Harvest Ale is brewed using only fresh picked, "wet" hops. Brewing with fresh, undried hops preserves more natural hop resins and aromatic oils, producing layers of hop notes rarely experienced.

In 1996 we created Harves Ale, America's first fresh hop ale. Fresh hops are richer in natural hop resins producing unmatched aromatics and layers of spicry-sweet notes that hop fanatics like us dream of all year. This year, we harvest and brewed with 8,000 lbs. of fresh hops in a singles day's time. It sounds insane because it is. The we did it again. But when you taste this year's Harvest Ale, we think you'll agree it was well worth it.

24 oz. bottles.

Saranac Scotch Ale: Back from Retirement

Looks like Saranac's Scotch Ale is making a return!

It seems like this hasn't been available for several years. We'll see how it is this go around.

From the label:

Ever heard a bear play bagpipes while loons sing along? Neither have we, but we can bet it would sound really cool, that is if the bear could play "WIld Mountain Tyme" while dancing a reel. This Scotch Ale is a full boddied, malty-sweet ale. True to Scottish brewing tradition, the malty flavor and deep copper brown color are a result of the plentiful use of Scottish two row malt and a wee bit of roasted barley.

Flying Dog Releases 2007 Dogtoberfest

Flying Dog DogtoberfestFLYING DOG BREWERY READY TO CELEBRATE “DOGTOBERFEST”
Denver, CO – August 10, 2007 – Denver’s Flying Dog Brewery is set to release their Fall seasonal Dogtoberfest. The Denver-based brewery’s third seasonal of the year is a traditional-style Marzen, brewed with 100% imported German ingredients. Dogtoberfest’s grist includes a mix of Light and Dark Munich and Vienna malts. It’s hopped with German Perle and Hersbrucker hops and is lager fermented.

Flying Dog’s Head Brewer, Matt Brophy says that Dogtoberfest is unique from other Fall seasonals, “We use a blend of five different German malts to give this lager a complex and satisfying malt character. Combined with our proprietary yeast strain, it strikes the perfect balance for the style”.

According to Flying Dog’s Director of Marketing, Neal Stewart, Fall seasonals are especially popular, “There are a lot of great seasonals brands available around this time of year and Dogtoberfest has historically been our most popular seasonal. I think a lot of that has to do with people experimenting with darker, malty beers as the weather starts to cool off again.”

Dogtoberfest is available throughout September and October in six-packs at your local grocery or liquor store and on draft at bars across the country. Dogtoberfest is part of Flying Dog’s “litter of ales” which currently includes nine brands and three other seasonal selections.

Port Brewing Hop-15 Now Being Bottled!
Well, having tried one small sample of this beer ever here at DrinkCraftBeer.com, we're really stoked this will be bottled, as we just started getting the Port Brewing/Lost Abbey stuff in MA! Hope this one follows. From the label:

Our beer oozes all the hop goodness you would expect to find in a double IPA. In your nose, you will experience a citric hop quality which is balanced by a slight malt sweetness. The essence of a great double IPA is hops and as such the beer finishes with a pronounced spicy hop bite. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop-15 to make an appearance from time to time when space permits to brew this, one our favorite ales.

New Beer from Southern Tier: Pumking

Another new seasonal from Southern Tier? NICE! From the label:

Pumking is an ode to Puca, a creature of Celtic folklore, who is both feared and respected by those who believe in it.
Puca is said to waylay travelers throughout the night, tossing them on its back, and providing them the ride of their lives, from which they return forever changed.
Brewed in the spirit of All Hallows Eve, a time of year when spirits can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent. Pour Pumking into a goblet-allowing it's alluring spirit to overflow. As spicy aroms present themselves, let its deep coppeer color entrance you as your journey into this mystical brew has just begun. As the first drops touch your tongue a magical spell will bewitch your taste buds making it difficut to escape the Pumking.
This beer is brewed with pagan spirit yes should be enjoyed responsibly.
